Finished in elegant silver and gold tones, this Hohner Chromonica 270 is representative of the timeless sound of Toots Thielemans. One of the first professional models he used, the instrument combines classic craftsmanship with the soulful voice that defined Thielemans' music. With its warm tone, chromatic versatility and understated brilliance, it became a natural extension of his breath - a bridge between jazz and poetry, between melody and silence.
This harmonica was auctioned in 2019 at Antwerp Diner for 23,000 euros. The money was donated to a charity fighting HIV.
Loïs and I intercepted the package one night, somewhere between mischief and momentum — a night of bad behavior, on sharp timing and soft footsteps. 
Since then, the harmonica and the beautiful moon and stars trumpet of Miles Davis has remained in our possession, breathing with history.
